Virtual Production:
At the USC School of Cinematic Arts, Ash leads the creative and technical direction of virtual production shoots, where cinematic storytelling meets real-time worldbuilding. Working within the school’s advanced production volumes, featuring Sony’s B-Series CLED Wall, OptiTrack motion-tracking systems, and cinema-grade cameras such as the Sony Venice—Ash integrates physical cinematography with digital environments powered by Unreal Engine.
In these productions, he acts as both director and architect—designing scenes where light, perspective, and performance seamlessly interact between real and virtual space. His work bridges the gap between practical filmmaking and digital simulation, leveraging tools like Unreal, Motion Capture, Photogrammetry and real-time rendering pipelines to deliver authentic, photoreal experiences on-set.
Collaborating with students, faculty, and industry professionals, Ash has guided teams through the creative challenges of real-time storytelling—mentoring new filmmakers while refining his own craft in virtual cinematography and scene direction. Each project pushes the frontier of narrative immersion, proving that virtual production isn’t just a technical innovation—it’s a new language for emotional storytelling.
